JIM PORTER WARSOP COLLIERY.

First an apology:

I have included these photographs on my site before but was unable to locate the origin of them so I now wish to put matters right.

Many thanks to Diane Wilson.

A few words to accompany three pictures (attached) of Arthur Thomas (Jim) Porter.

Mr Porter worked with pit ponies at Creswell Colliery at the age of 15 and moved to Warsop Main Colliery in 1930 as a fireman.

He was chargeman for 20 years before retiring in 1971.

He was formerly a resident at 5 Portland Street, Warsop, and died in 1997 at the age of 89.
